Intermec has added to its range of rugged handheld computers with a newmodel the first to be styled more like a consumer smartphone while still beingable to withstand outdoors use according to the firm.

Hopkins professor devised way to let computers grasp language Frederick Jelinek, a pioneer in creating the technology that allows computers to interpret human speech and translate languages, died Tuesday of a heart attack in his faculty office at the Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood campus. The electrical engineering professor and Roland Park resident was 77.
