This book is a collection of free useful software. Unless you’re a totallly experience geek, there’s probably resources you haven’t heard of before.
However, it’d be more useful if some of the descriptions had been translated into English. For instance, the description for Inkscape is: “Vector graphics editor similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X, using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format.”
Gee, thanks . . . say, anybody know how can I make a picture bigger or smaller with distortion?
After that and Gimp are listed, there’s a section devote to image editing programs. Unfortunately, I can’t figure out which one I would need to do the image editing I sometimes want to do.
Yet to be fair, there are also many other programs covering banners, backgrounds, PDF files, file conversion programs, tools for writers, online spreadsheets, online databases, free fonts, free icons, and free PSDs (If you don’t know what PSD stands for — and I don’t — don’t look here. But if you do, you’ll find a lot of sources for them.)
If you’re a webmaster or do any kind of creative work online, there’s something here for you.
There’s way too much good stuff to give it less than a four, but too much jargon for me to give it a five.

Setting up my new laptop with a copy of “The Biggest Collection of FREE Computer Creation Tools and Resources” in hand I was pleased to find software for every function I need to do (plus a few others I didn’t think I needed but find useful). I was only aware of one of these free tools before owning this book. I realistically saved $400-500 dollars in software I would have purchased had I not owned this book. One of the best investments I have made.
