In case you’re not sure. The book is the hardcover one.

Nice price in my opinion, although amazon raised it. I payed 13,46 three days ago.

I’ve used several of these, and the paper quality is very uneven in the way it reacts to fountain pen inks. One works just great: on the next the ink might feather badly, or bleed right through, especially when I use a thick nib.

If you’re a ballpoint user, this notebook is great. If, like me, you prefer a fountain pen, I recommend Clairefontaine or Exacompta journals — Clairefontaine even make one with unruled pages.

This is my 3rd Moleskine. While this paper takes fountain pen inks better than the Moleskine Sketchbook, the paper is inconsistent – some areas of the page will not take ink well (about 5% of a given page), while others will. Very weird, and I wonder if this is a result of Moleskine moving their production to China. I’ll fill this one up, but I’m probably going to get something else next time as the quality has slumped a bit in recent years.

There are Moleskines in every size that fit all my needs, but this is the one I use the most. If I am researching a singular project – whether it is gardening for next year, my Mom’s 75th birthday, or a trip to Paris, I start with this blank journal.

I separate the sections for what I need and fill them in as I go. I start by creating separate sections for each type of information I am collecting. For my trip to Paris, I had one section filled with quotes and all the literary Paris themed books I read. Another section included all the Parisian cookbooks I had read, and all the recipes I tried and loved. Another section included web sites where I could view all the tourist Mecca’s (The Louvre, Chartres Cathedral, etc.) And of course I had a travel itinerary section for planning my whole trip.

I kept the book in my backpack or purse while in Paris. In the back pocket I added business cards, postcards, pamphlets, photos I took – every scrap of paper I wanted as a memory. I also used the book as a diary of my trip, adding addresses and phone numbers of new friends and new places (cathedrals, bistros, small out of the way museums.)

When I got back home, I sorted out the ephemera of my trip and created a travel scrapbook with the remaining pages of the book.

I use this blank canvas Moleskine for every single project I undertake in my life – from losing weight to creating a new wardrobe, from decorating my home to decorating my garden.

Try it the next time you take on a project. Having your written word, photos, magazine clippings, stickers, etc. all in one place make it a welcome piece of your history to explore over and over again.

I LOVE writing in this notebook! Breaking out a fountain pen and writing in this notebook makes me feel like I am sitting in a Paris cafe back in the 1930’s. Not sure what people are complaining about regarding the paper and how well it takes fountain pen ink – I have found it to be very good. The paper is thin so there is some bleed-through to the other side – a minor annoyance. I just use one side of each page anyway. The size is very convenient to drop in a backpack or briefcase and it just has this classic look to it. Highly recommended!
