I ordered this carrying case for my 17″ laptop, and I am delighted with the storage capacity and quality. There is plenty of laptop room with a couple of inches of width to spare, and there’s an adjustable padded strap inside to keep it from sliding side to side in the excess area. There is also a velcro strap to hold the laptop firmly in place when it and the case are closed. As others noted, I can zip open the case and use the laptop without taking it out, a feature I was particulary looking for. The case is well padded, and has plenty of pockets that add storage but not bulk. There’s not enough space for anything thick like textbooks, but flat notebooks, folders, or small books would easily fit. One of the pockets has loops and pockets to hold pencils, calculators, business cards, and other small items. The bag has a handle and a detachable shoulder strap. This is a great case and the price was far below what I expected to pay for anything like it.

    Pros: Well made.

    Lots of pockets for storage.

Holds my 17″ wide screen laptop.

    Shoulder strap.

    Price.

Cons: A little more padding on the bottom would be nice.

They should have added a dedicated cell phone pocket.

We just use the case for storage at home and for short local trips, but we love it! With an adjustable velcro strap inside, we can safely and securely fit our large HP notebook. Plus there is enough room for the plug! The front pockets are helpful, too. Great for holding the wireless mouse. I would feel totally secure taking this laptop case on a longer trip. If you are wanting to combine your laptop case with a briefcase, this isn’t the bag for you. While there is adequate storage for a personal user or a digital scrapbooker (like me!) there isn’t enough room for tons of paper.

I recently purchased my first laptop, which has a 16 inch screen. I looked in a few stores for a case for it, but most of their cases were for laptops with a 15.4 inch screen. I did not want to spend a whole lot of money for the case since I will mostly need the case for storage at home, but I did not want to just buy a “sleeve” since I know I will be traveling with the laptop occasionally. I wanted to make sure my laptop is well protected but not spend a huge amount of money. I decided to purchase the Case Logic VNC-17 17-inch Value Slimline Laptop Case (Black) and I am thrilled with my purchase!

My laptop easily fits into the case. There is one strap that goes over the one end of the laptop. My husband felt that there should have been two straps, but I pointed out that there is a divider that can be adjusted in the case so that it fits snug against the other end of the laptop to ensure that the laptop doesn’t slide around in the case. On the other side of the divider, I was able to easily fit the cords and charger.

There is a pocket on the lid inside the case where I put the mousepad, but you could easily store papers or other flat objects. On the outside of the case, there is a large zippered compartment on the front with places where you can store disks, 2 loops for storing pens, a pouch net where I stored the mouse, as well as another pocket for small papers or any other accessory you may have for your laptop. On the outside of this large zippered compartment, there is a smaller zippered pocket where you could store papers. On the back of the case, there is another pocket where you could store papers. There is PLENTY of room for storing everything you need for your laptop!

There are 2 ways in which to carry this case. You can either use the handle or the shoulder strap. The shoulder strap has a pad that can easily be adjusted so that it fits right on top of your shoulder, which helps alleviate pressure from the weight of the case when your computer and all the accessories are stored in it.

Just one added plus: the company was EXTREMELY prompt with shipping this product! I chose to go with the free shipping, so I expected it to take about a week to receive my case (it said 5-9 days). I ordered the case on a Wednesday evening and was shocked when I received it on Friday morning…less than 48 hours after I ordered it! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed at all if you purchase this case!

First of all, the main reason I purchased this product is because its page here currently and at the time I bought it specified that it is 19.5″ wide, making it wider than any other laptop case I’ve been able to find. With a 17″ widescreen laptop, I was hoping to use every inch of that valuable extra space to help store my power cable with brick (which is one of the smaller kinds), and maybe have a little room left over for a mini-mouse. However, when I received this, the packaging it came with said that it was 18″ wide. I put my laptop inside and was only able to fit the main part of the detachable cable with brick inside with no leftover space. It was disappointingly snug. I figured the 18″ referred to on the packaging was in reference to the width of space available inside the bag. But that prompted me to get a tape measure and measure the outside back of the bag myself. And I discovered that this bag is in fact no larger on the outside than 18.5″, at most. It is not 19.5″ wide, and that extra inch and a half or so would have made a difference, not only for storing a small mouse, but being able to have the computer plugged into power with room to spare while it still sat and was usable from within the bag, diminishing the threat of the common and potentially expensive problem of dislocating the terminal inside the computer which the power plugs into. However, after going to a local electronics superstore, this was still as wide a bag as I was able to find from the others which I browsed, so I have decided to settle for it.

Also, I sometimes have to struggle a bit with the zippers which open to the inside. The other zippers, on the front, pocket area operate more smoothly for some reason. There is also a white tag sewn into the inside “lid” of this bag that curls back around towards the zipper and presents a potential snag risk. And finally, in addition to the above, amazon marked the price of this product down by over $8, less than a week after I received it. Ugh. I was originally going to be a bit generous and give this 3 stars, but after going over all of this and typing it out, I have to say that my overall experience with it warrants closer to two (and maybe a half).

    EDIT:

One additional annoyance which didn’t become apparent until I’d had this bag for a week or so was that the swivel hinges which connect the shoulder strap to the bag make noticeable squeaking sounds when I walk while wearing it, which has the potential to be a little embarassing in public. Despite all of the above, I decided not to go through the hassle of returning this bag, and discovered that with Amazon’s Post-Order Price Guarantee, I was able to get a refund of the difference in the price change that occurred after I bought it, which was a relief.

    Pros:

The exceedingly low price. While nice and more feature rich (read: tool-less) towers exists, they often go for double, triple and quadruple the price.

    Lots of expansion slots

    Side window is nice touch

    HD audio support

120 mm fan slots (front, side) rather than 92 or 80 mm fan slots (larger fans move more air with fewer rotations, resulting in lower energy costs and less heat generated)

Comes with one 120 mm fan which blows around 44 CFM

    Nice looking color scheme

    Cons:

    Not tool-less

    No features for wire management

No front firewire (minor for vast majority of people)

PCI covers are attached by single use metal connector

    Other:

Steel pressure pads for hard drives

Power supply slot is located on top rather than bottom

Only three fan slots, no ceiling fan slot

Due to position of hard drive slots get right angle SATA cables rather than flat SATA cables but this common in many cases today

    Ending Thoughts:

Overall, I’m exceedingly pleased with this case.

    Running:

Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 Processor

    4 Gig DDR2

    PNY VCG98GTXPXPB Geforce 9800 GTX+ 512MB PCI-Express Graphic Card

2x Western Digital 1 TB Caviar Green SATA Intellipower 32 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive WD10EADS

I received my package on 01-14-2010 and to my surprise,it came well packaged.Amazon did an outstanding job of putting the main box into a larger box with ample packing materials so there was no damage at all.”EXCELLENT WORK AMAZON.COM”.

This computer case is well constructed and sturdy and the material was not in the least flimsy as other cases that I bought for the same money.I like the clear side and will add a cathode case lamp.I have not installed anything as yet.The only slight con is that the 3.5 hard drive cage sits facing out and is effectively blocking the 120mm front intake fan from blowing air into the case. This will not be a problem though as I will be using a Serial ATA hard drive mobile rack in one of the 5.25 bays that will allow me to use different hard drives and a backup hard drive in the 3.5 bay.

    Get this case!!!!

Plenty of space to work with.Like other revier said no aid in wire control but I used a twist tie just to get the wires out of the way of moving parts. you have to use some screws for the dvd/cd drive to set in place. has room for about 4 hard drives,4 dvd/cd drives and 1 zip drive .The tower came with one fan (u can put a 2nd one in too).but one is good for me.has plenty of holes for ventilation.

I bought one of these and shortly after, my cousin did as well. We managed to transfer his Gateway computer over to this case with no problems whatsoever and I’ve started my own build as well. The price and positive reviews drew me to this case and I’m completely satisfied. I recommend this case to anybody, including beginners.

    WARNING:

I’ve heard people having trouble with the front audio ports being dead. There are TWO connectors, AC 97 and HD Audio. READ YOUR MOTHERBOARD MANUAL and make sure you are hooking up the right one! We had the same issue until hooking up the proper connector.

Also, if your hard disk activity light isn’t blinking, you probably have the pin connectors on the mobo backwards so just switch them.
